Internship

Careers

If you’re looking to gain hands-on experience within technology investment banking and asset management and can leverage classroom learnings to deliver better business outcomes at a global stage, consider applying to our internship programmes.

Our programmes are designed around small, senior-led teams, allowing interns to contribute to live assignments and investment work in a meaningful way.

Candidates join SilverMile through one of two internship formats and are typically aligned with a primary area of focus based on their interests, experience and the needs of the firm.

Summer Analyst Programme

Duration: 8–12 weeks
Typical timing: June–August

The Summer Analyst Programme is designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students seeking intensive exposure to private markets during the university summer break.

Summer Analysts are assigned to a primary strategy or advisory area and work alongside SilverMile professionals on live transactions, investment opportunities and market analysis.

High-performing Summer Analysts may be considered for future internships or full-time opportunities.

Off-Cycle Analyst Programme

Duration: 3–6 months
Timing: Opportunities available throughout the year

The Off-Cycle Analyst Programme provides a longer and more immersive experience for students, recent graduates and candidates completing placement semesters.

Off-Cycle Analysts become integrated members of their respective teams and may support assignments through multiple stages of execution, providing deeper exposure to transaction analysis, investor engagement and deal processes.

Areas of Focus

Interns typically join one of the following specialist tracks:

Venture Capital & Growth Equity

Work with high-growth private companies and institutional investors across venture, growth and pre-IPO capital.

Interns gain exposure to company analysis, market sizing, business-model assessment, unit economics, valuation, investor research, capital-raising strategy and investment materials.

Private Credit

Gain exposure to private lending and structured financing across middle-market corporate credit, growth debt, venture debt, specialty finance and asset-backed lending.

Work may include credit analysis, cash-flow modelling, debt capacity, collateral and portfolio analysis, financing structures, pricing, covenants and the evaluation of lender proposals and term sheets.

Mergers & Acquisitions

Work on strategic advisory assignments including sell-side and buy-side M&A, and other strategic corporate transactions.

Interns may contribute to valuation, financial analysis, industry research, buyer or target identification, transaction materials, due diligence and deal execution.

Late-Stage Direct Secondaries

Gain exposure to transactions involving shares in established private companies, including late-stage technology and pre-IPO businesses.

Interns may work on private-company valuation, funding-round analysis, secondary pricing, shareholder liquidity, buyer and seller identification, cap-table analysis and transaction execution.

Asset Management

Develop investment-analysis experience across private and alternative investment strategies.

Interns may contribute to company and security research, financial modelling, investment memoranda, portfolio monitoring, performance analysis, risk assessment and investment committee materials.

The SilverMile Experience

Our internship programmes are designed to provide meaningful responsibility rather than purely observational experience.

Depending on the team and assignment, interns may:

  • Work directly with senior investment professionals
  • Analyse live companies, investments and transactions
  • Build financial and valuation analyses
  • Research industries, investors and markets
  • Evaluate investment and financing opportunities
  • Prepare materials for institutional investors and clients
  • Participate in internal transaction and investment discussions
  • Support processes involving investors and counterparties across international markets

Responsibility can increase quickly for interns who demonstrate strong judgement, accuracy and initiative.

Who We Look For

We look for candidates with strong intellectual curiosity, analytical ability and a genuine interest in businesses, investing and financial markets.

Successful candidates will typically demonstrate strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, structured thinking, commercial judgement, excellent written communication, attention to detail, a high degree of ownership and an ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment.

We also value candidates who can intelligently use modern data, analytical and AI-enabled tools to improve the quality and efficiency of their work.

Responsibility is earned quickly. Strong performers can receive materially greater exposure as the programme progresses.
